SABYDOMA @ FARAON 2022

Recent developments in Advanced Functional Materials have paved the way for innovation and novel applications to meet the growing energy demand and environmental challenges. FARAON-2022 provides a great platform to promote the breakthrough research works accomplished in the past decade and publish novel & potential advanced research works focussing on energy, environment, and biomedical applications from the branches of Physics, Chemistry, and Biological Sciences. The program is initiated as a joint collaboration between India and Norway to integrate and promote the interdisciplinary activity between both nations in the field of science and to extend the collaboration with international researchers from academia and industries. FARAON-2022 aims to provide a platform for the young researchers to present, share, and discuss the latest and upcoming developments in Advanced Functional Materials with wide networking .

This year, the FARAON 2022 took place from 2 – 4 February 2022 gathering more than 300 attendees (academia and industry) from India and Norway for network building and establishing marketing platform. The conference had 8 plenary sessions, 33 invited talks (in 3 parallel sessions), poster session and open discussion with experts.

On February 3rd ,Elise Rundén Pran, from NILU, participated in the conference in the afternoon session 3 “Environment – Nanosafety of Nanoparticles”. Under the title “Safety of nanoparticles: Safe and Sustainable by Design”, she talked about nanosafety, explaining the Safe-by-Design (SbD) and Safe-and-Sustainable-by-Design (SSbD) approach for the nanotech community. Elise presented the SABYDOMA project video, and also showed some of the project results on how phys-chem properties like size, surface coating, etc. influence toxicity. Furthermore, she showed some examples of how NILU has used the SbD principle in projects on development of nanomedicine.
