SUMMARY:Nanosafety Training School: From Basic Science To Risk Governance 2021
DESCRIPTION:This year the Venice Nano Training School\, organised within the EU funded Horizon 2020 projects BIORIMA\, GRACIOUS\, NanoInformaTIX\, PATROLS\, NANORIGO\, RiskGONE and Gov4Nano will take place in San Servolo (Venice\, Italy) 20th – 25th June 2021\, providing additionally a live-streaming of the event\, for the participants that will not be able to travel. DESCRIPTION:RTD Sustainable-by-Design Team is pleased to invite you to the 1st Stakeholders workshop on Safe and Sustainable-by-Design criteria for chemicals\, materials and products scheduled on 19/03 from 09:30 to 13:00 on Zoom or Teams. \nThe European Green Deal defines a clear vision and objectives to put European economy and society on a sustainable pathway\, in particular to move towards climate neutrality\, a circular economy and a zero pollution/toxic-free ambition. Key for this societal transformation will be the transition to a safe and sustainable by design approach\, so that chemicals\, materials and products are designed\, produced and used in a way which does not harm people and the environment. \nThe Circular Economy Action Plan provides an agenda for achieving a cleaner and more competitive Europe\, where safe and sustainable products are the norm\, improving their durability\, reusability\, upgradability and reparability\, and addressing the presence of hazardous chemicals. The Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability aims to catalyse the shift towards chemicals\, materials and products that are inherently safe and sustainable\, from production to end of life\, and announces that the Commission will develop criteria on safe and sustainable-by-design by 2022. \nThrough this workshop\, the Commission aims to: \n\nInform stakeholders on the planned steps for the development of the safe and sustainable by design criteria;\nInitiate a first exchange of views with all interested parties on the safe and sustainable by design concept;\nGather feedback from stakeholders on the presented steps and first developments.\n\nAn indicative agenda will be provided to you shortly. DESCRIPTION:Andrew Nelson (University of Leeds\, UK)\, as project coordinator was invited to give a project presentation during the Nanotechnology Working Group (Nano WG) webinar on Thursday\, May 21st\, 2020. \nJoin the webinar to get a good overview of the project. \nThe National Cancer Institute (NCI) Nanotechnology Working Group (Nano WG) was established in 2008 for researchers with a specific interest in informatics and computational approaches to nanotechnology\, with a particular emphasis on nanomedicine. The goal of this working group is to demonstrate the scientific potential of federating nanotechnology databases through pilot projects aimed at integrated semantic search and retrieval of nanomedicine and nanotoxicology datasets that are applicable across nanoscience. The NCI Nano WG comprises over 20 active participants from academia\, government and industry with diverse interests. \nMore information about the event\, here.
