Case Study 2 will synthesise novel SiC coatings on titanium metal medical implants. These coatings will be subjected to rigorous rapid and slow release studies. In the rapid release studies, an innovative corrosion cell will be developed such that the leachate will be screened and the signal feedback will be used to modify coating composition. The main objective of this case study is the development of new coating materials for reinforced and safer medical implants.
